Welcome to Sweet n Savory.
This blog is created to celebrate the experience of creating wholesome meals and the pleasure that is derived from them. A kitchen is a place where art and science merge, allowing you to be as creative as you dare. Meals are meant to be enjoyed and savored while fueling your body for a healthy lifestyle. It is my pleasure to share with you my favorite true and tried recipes of good food, both savory and sweet.
I’m Larisa, and I have an incredible luck of being able to learn from the best home cooks that surrounded me my entire life . My Grandmother, my Babushka Zina, taught me how to make my first spongecake at the age of five. She went through World War II in Soviet Union, years of hunger and deprivation after the war, yet could make the most incredible and healthy meals out of nothing, humble at times but great none the less. It’s through her eyes I look at the world still. My mom has an ability to transform weekdays into holidays and mundane into exciting . She can take an ordinary beef stew, add a little bit of this and a little bit of that and boom – it’s a culinary masterpiece. I spent my summers helping my aunt tend to her orchard and garden, enjoying the blessing of fresh picked produce, stealing a taste of fresh made jams from the fruit I helped pick.
Raising three active boys and holding a full time job is a challenge. The meals I make for my family on the weekdays are simple and nutritious, it’s on the weekends that I can experiment with recipes. I appreciate your company through this journey and look forward to sharing new experiences with you.
